Giraffes

Giraffes
Giraffes are the tallest mammal to live. They live in savannas and eat leaves.

Habitats
[22], Two Giraffes.PNGGiraffes live in African savannas. Some of the savannas are in Chad, Kenya and Uganda. The savannas are also perfect places for giraffes because savannas contain ponds and trees.
Appearance
Giraffes are yellow and have a brown pattern. The pattern is very similar to a leopard’s pattern. Giraffes have long necks and legs. They have a tail that is as long as one hundred centimetres. Giraffes have very tiny ears and even have horns.

Diet
Giraffes eat acacia leaves.  Giraffes also eat buds and herbs. They eat fruit and flowers when in season. They drink water but not very often. If given a chance to drink water they will.

Endangered
African and Rothschild giraffes are in danger of becoming extinct. Hunting and poaching have decimated the continent's giraffes population by about 40 percent.

Giraffes are becoming endangered. But because of people like Betty Leslie-Melville and her husband who they have a successful giraffe breeding centre there is still hope to save this beautiful species from extinction.
